Piraeus Line (19): Planetarium Eygenidio
The Eugenides Foundation was established in 1956 as a nonprofit making legal entity in private law.
Its purpose, educating young Greeks in science and technology, was the wishes expressed in the last testament of a benefactor of Greek nation, Eugenio Eugenides. Upgrading the Planetarium’s audiovisual-equipment became a big need very soon and three technicians, who were trained abroad for this purpose, bolstered this effort. The creation of the New Digital Planetarium, with total surface area of 950sq.m and a 280-seat capacity, marks the beginning of the implementation of a vision originally conceived of by the late Nikos Vernikos Eugenides.
The New Digital Planetatium has provided access to disabled persons and it is considered one of the largest and best-equipped digital planetariums in the world. Tel: +30 (210) 9469600.
